TrySwayd Help Center: Universal Layout Gallery, Preferences & Dissector

Welcome to the TrySwayd Layout Gallery & Universal Archetypes guide. This document explains how TrySwayd deconstructs world-class visual carousel designs into universal spatial blueprints and how you can select, favorite, and configure category defaults for your brand.

1. What is a Carousel Archetype?

In TrySwayd, a Carousel Archetype is a mathematically reverse-engineered layout template that defines:

  • Slide Count: The exact number of slides (between 4 and 10).
  • Narrative Role & Flow: Hook pattern interrupts, problem definitions, system schematics, comparison splits, evidence synthesis, and calls to action.
  • Universal 0–1000 Spatial Boxes: Exact [top, left, bottom, right] bounding boxes ([y_min, x_min, y_max, x_max]) where headlines, subheadlines, callouts, hero product cutouts, and brand monograms are placed.
  • Global Style Lock: Camera lighting, surface textures (e.g. warm alabaster paper, coordinate grids), typography pairings, and hex color slot mappings.
  • Because archetypes are universal, any brand can generate high-converting carousels in these formats while preserving their own Brand DNA, hex colors, and transparent cutouts.

    2. Choosing a Layout: The Three Selection Modes

When creating a carousel project or sending ideas from the Command Center to the Review Desk, you can choose from three layout selection modes:

  • Let Swayd Decide (`ai_auto`):
  • Swayd Editorial Director analyzes your mined customer quotes and facts, and automatically selects the archetype whose storytelling strength best matches your topic (e.g. matching a myth breakdown to "The Contrarian Ledger").

  • Pick Layout Manually (`manual`):
  • Browse the Layout Gallery, inspect the interactive 0–1000 coordinate overlays, and select the exact archetype you want.

  • Use Category Default (`category_default`):
  • Automatically applies your chosen default archetype for the active category (e.g. your preferred template for Educational, Comparison, or Listicle).

    3. Managing Favorites & Category Defaults

  • Heart Icon (Favorites): Click the heart icon on any layout card to save it to your Favorites. Use the "Favorites Only" toggle in the gallery to filter your top picks.
  • Set as Default: Click "Set as Default" to assign a layout as your brand's preferred template for that category. Each workspace maintains strictly 1 default per category, ensuring predictable autonomous generation.

  • 4. Deconstructing Fresh Designs (/admin/archetypes)

Super-admins and creators can add new layouts to TrySwayd anytime without writing code:

  • Navigate to /admin/archetypes.
  • Drag and drop either:
  • A single 3x3 grid screenshot of an existing carousel, OR
  • 4 to 10 individual slide screenshots.
  • (Optional) Provide a custom name or category override.
  • Click "Deconstruct & Publish to Swayd Library".
  • Swayd Spatial Vision deconstructs the spatial boxes, Swayd Optical Studio renders a branded tryswayd.com Slide 1 preview thumbnail to Swayd CDN, and the template immediately becomes available in your Layout Gallery!

  • 5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Why do bounding boxes use a 0–1000 coordinate grid?

The 0–1000 integer grid ([y_min, x_min, y_max, x_max]) provides resolution-independent spatial precision. Whether an image is rendered in 1080x1350 (4:5 portrait) or 1080x1920 (9:16 vertical), the boxes scale cleanly without distortion.

Q2: What happens if I set a new default for a category?

TrySwayd enforces strictly one default per category per workspace. Setting a new default automatically unsets the previous default for that category.

Q3: How are preview thumbnails generated?

Each archetype preview thumbnail is generated live by Swayd Optical Studio using Slide 1's extracted bounding boxes and TrySwayd's flagship editorial tokens ("SWAYD EDITORIAL ENGINE", #F3ECE1, #2B0908, #C88A2B), then permanently uploaded to Swayd CDN (https://cdn.tryswayd.com).

Q4: Can I inspect the exact coordinates of a layout before using it?

Yes! Click "Inspect Grid" on any card to open the interactive 0–1000 coordinate inspector. You can view each bounding box with its role, coordinates, and styling rules slide by slide.

Q5: How does the Weekly Viral Carousel Hunter find new layouts?

The hunter scans public social signals and applies mathematical outlier filters:

  • TikTok Photo Mode: Multi-image carousels (aweme_type == 150) with a collect-to-play ratio ≥ 2.5%.
  • Instagram Direct-Response Carousels: High save-to-reach ratio carousels breaking down systems or contrarian teardowns.
